They're for either - you can switch between Line/Instr. at the top left of the front panel. But 3-4 inputs are fine; just expect them to come up as 3-4 in Logic

that all recorded voice through all inputs are extremely low. do you perhaps have any idea, what the cause may be?

As you're going through a mixer, increase the levels there, both on input and output, until optimum levels are reached. Also check to see what the outputs are set to on your mixer - it could be -10 dB or +4dB. If you can, choose +4dB
Finally, you don't need to see 'hot' levels in Logic - if your vocals are playing back peaking at roughly between -9 and -20 dBFS you're fine
Without knowing what mixer you're using, you could also experiment and plug your mic directly into the Saffire - it has quite good preamps.
